Cardinal Tetra Care Guide
- Scientific name: Paracheirodon axelrodi
- Tank size: 10 gallons minimum for a school of 6+
- Water parameters: pH 4.5–7.0, temperature 74–82°F, soft to moderately hard water
- Diet: Omnivore — high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms
- Lifespan: 4–5 years with proper care
- Temperament: Peaceful, schooling fish — never keep fewer than 6
- Tank mates: Other peaceful community fish such as neon tetras, corydoras, dwarf gouramis, and small rasboras. Avoid large or aggressive species.
- Cardinal tetra vs. neon tetra: Cardinals have a red stripe running the full length of the body, while neons only show red on the back half — cardinals also tend to be slightly larger and more vibrant.
Note:
- Color and pattern may vary slightly from photos due to natural variation and lighting.
- Fish may appear less vibrant during shipping and regain color after acclimation.
- Price is for one individual fish
